Showers Thunderstorms Approaching Long Island Real Time Radar
Radars are showing showers and and a couple of embedded thunderstorms moving across New Jersey at the moment and they will be clipping Long Island before lunchtime. This is the cold front coming through. It appears to be moving through a little faster than what some overnight short term models were showing. This will cut back on the daytime heating and we should see temperatures begin to fall back as we move through the afternoon and evening. Most Long Island temperatures right now are in the 50s to near 60. However notice over the east end it is in the upper 40s with the winds already northeast. The same holds for coastal Connecticut. Once the winds turn to the northeast, Temperatures late this afternoon will be dropping into the 40s from east to west.

Long Island remains outside the severe weather threat area which covers New Jersey and areas west and south. While there could be a few thunderstorms we do not expect them to be severe in nature. Much colder weather follows tonight with lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Sunshine and very chilly for Wednesday is the forecast with highs not much out of the 50s.
