Spring Agony Continues, Elusive Sun Ocean Winds Days of Gloom Lie Ahead
Spring Agony Continues, Elusive Sun Ocean Winds Days of Gloom Lie Ahead
There really isn’t much good we can say about the week ahead so I suppose that we managed to squeeze in a nice weekend was a good thing. The week ahead continues the agonizing blocking pattern that settled in during April. Sunshine and warmth will be elusive. We have three weather systems to deal with coming one after another starting with tonight. The week ends with a developing low off the coast and a stretch of doom and gloom lasting a couple of days. Keep your eyes out for Thursday because that may be the one day this week where it doesn’t rain, at least during the day.
SATELLITE
We are watching showers developing to the west and while they will weaken as the come east, we should see a few showers tonight and again on Monday. They at least won’t be continuous but more of the off and on variety with dry stretches in between. Radar shows some heavier rain to the west but all models suggest most of it should weaken tonight to just some patches of showery rains. Lows tonight will be in the mid to upper 40s.
WEATHER RADAR
Monday has a frontal boundary to the southwest and Long Island is on the wrong side. Look for a cloudy gloomy Monday with a few showers, drizzle and even some fog. The northeast to east wind is cruel this time of year and highs will be just in the 50s.
We will leave the showers behind Monday night and Tuesday dayside will be dry. This time we will have a southeast wind which is a little less cruel. With changeable sky conditions favoring clouds over any sun, temperatures should make into the 60s except along the immediate shore and over the East End where highs will be in the 50s. Showers come in Tuesday night and will continue on and off into Wednesday. Winds will be going around to northeast eventually as a cold front and low finally pass through. Temperatures will be in the mid 50s east to the lower 60s west.
Wednesday’s highs will be into the 60s with some patchy showers. Then we should get a break on Thursday. This looks to be dry for the dayside for sure. There isn’t much clarity on timing with the end of the week weather system at this point. It seems that we will have rain developing later Thursday night and lasting into the first part of Saturday. A developing ocean wind will keep temperatures in the 50s at best. Some models want to hold the rain off until later Friday and lingering into Sunday morning. We will be trying to resolve this in the next couple of days.
