Springtime Ocean Wind Means Raw Chilly Damp Weather
For Long Island wind from almost any direction can be hostile but this is a big problem in the spring because Long Island lays east west with an ocean to the south and east. Any wind with an east or south in it becomes a temperature problem and a warm weather killer. Such is the case this weekend as a weather front pushes south from New England and drops through Early Saturday afternoon. This means that any temperature rise Saturday to near 60 will come to a grinding halt around midday and the drop during the afternoon into Sunday morning.

You can see the two worlds of this weekend with Saturday highs in the upper 50s to near 60 with a west wind verses highs in the low to mid 40s Sunday with an northeast wind. Add to that some drizzle and light rain for Sunday and you have the makings for a fairly miserable day.
In the meantime the satellite loop shows clouds getting ready to move out tonight so we should see nothing more than overnight clouds and temperatures in the 40s. Radars are going to go quiet for awhile until later Saturday when showers will start to appear.
Monday we will see whether the front can make it back northward which should get temperatures back into the 50s. Some showers are likely. More rain or showers will be with us on Tuesday before sunshine comes back with dry weather on Wednesday.
