Wind Advisory Long Island As Winter Hangs On
We are seeing strong gusty winds across parts of the area and a wind advisory is in effect for Long Island today, Winds will gust to 30-40 mph at times today and run sustained 20 to 30 mph from the northwest. Temperatures this morning are in the mid to upper 30s but with cold air advecting from the northwest temperatures are likely to just hover in a tight range of upper 30s to lower 40s with the wind making it feel like its down in the 20s. The satellite loop shows mainly clear skies although there are some clouds upstream that could move through here later this morning.

For the most part radars are quiet though there are some snow showers scatttered around to the north. I don’t think they will be much of an issue if they even hold together. Tonight skies will be clear and it will be very cold as thermometers head for the teens and lower 20s.
Thursday looks good with sunshine and less wind but still cold with highs just in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Then we start the transition to warmer air on Friday with a warm front going by to our north. We will see clouds with this and the risk for a passing shower but not much more.

Saturday is going to be warm but we still are having a tough time figuring where the back door cold front will be. If it stays north until late afternoon then everyone from the Hudson Valley and Connecticut southward to Southeastern Pennsylvania will see 60s to near 70 but it is possible it will get stuck in between somewhere. That means areas north of the front will be in the 40s and 50s while areas to the south will be in the 60s to near 70.
