Winter Weather Advisory Western Suffolk & Nassau County

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for Eastern Suffolk County where snow could accumulate 4 to 7 inches. Temperatures here could be a few degrees colder than areas to the west and the snow could last a bit longer as low pressure moves by just offshore. Snow begins on Long Island after 4am and should last into early Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for snow, which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 4
PM EST Friday.

* Locations...New London County and eastern Suffolk County.

* Hazard Types...Snow.

* Accumulations...Snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches.

* Timing...Late tonight into early Friday afternoon.

* Impacts...Hazardous/slippery travel due to snow accumulations.

* Temperatures...Around freezing.

* Visibilities...One quarter to one half mile at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for Heavy Snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...food...
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
