Winter Storm Warning Suffolk County Heavy Snow Falling
6 to 8 inches has fallen so far in Suffolk County and the radar is showing a band of very heavy snow over Central Suffolk and another heavy snow band to the east. Snow is falling at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour inside these bands. Some places are going to wind up with over a foot of snow before this all done later this afternoon. The satellite shows the coastal storm well to the southeast of Long Island but the bands of heavy snow are stretched back to the coast and rotating around the back side.

Snow will end from west to east this afternoon and then it will be a cold night with partial clearing and lows in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Coastal flooding is occurring and coastal flood advisories are posted for the rest of the day. Winds are still rather gusty from the northwest and that will also continue into this evening.
