Winter Weather Advisory Suffolk County Saturday
Winter Weather Advisory Suffolk County Saturday
Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for Suffolk County for snow. Suffolk County may wind up with a bit more than Nassau County. My forecast map above from two days ago shows no real change. 1-2 inches is forecast for Nassau County with 2-3 inches possible in Suffolk particularly along the south shore of Suffolk east to the twin forks. With the brutal arctic air weather systems have been weak so this is not forecast to become problematic and an upside surprise while possible is also limited.
Temperatures this evening are in the upper teens to near 20 and we will not drop too far tonight from these levels. Lows should be in the mid teens. The satellite loop shows clouds across the Ohio Valley moving eastward. Snow should not come into range of the regional radar until later tonight.
As far as timing is concerned, snow should develop around mid morning and then last into Saturday evening. The system is fast moving which is good. Temperatures will probably be in the low to mid 20s all day.
Sunday we will see the arrival of another bitter cold air mass. Wind chills will be near or below zero as winds pick up to 20 to 30 mph later in the day. We will see some sunshine at least tough it will be very ineffective. Sunday night the near comes in with temperatures in the single digits. Monday New Years day look for sunshine windy and bitter conditions with highs just back to the upper teens. Frigid weather will hold into Wednesday morning before another frigid blast arrives late in the week. Fortunately there are no big storms on the horizon as far as snow is concerned and much if not all of next week will be dry.
